Birmingham prices from our local DJs: the DJs in our Birmingham matching pool start from £395. Your exact quote depends on the hours, the date, the setup and any extras, and comes directly from the DJ.
What changes the price
- Hours. An evening-only booking costs less than a DJ who covers the ceremony, drinks reception and evening.
- Day and season. Summer Saturdays and December party nights are the busiest dates. Weekdays and quieter months can cost less.
- Setup. A compact setup for a small room costs less than full lighting, uplighting around the venue and a larger sound system.
- Extras. A photo booth, an LED dance floor, a sax player or dhol players are usually priced on top.
- Experience. DJs who specialise in weddings, or in Asian weddings, tend to charge more than those who mostly play parties.
- Several events. Asian weddings often run over several nights, from the mehndi and sangeet to the reception, sometimes with dhol players. These are quoted individually by the DJ, so we don’t give a typical range for them here.
- Travel and late finishes. Long journeys and very late finishes can add to the price.
What you should get for your money
Whatever the budget, a professional DJ should give you:
- a clear written quote saying how many hours are included, and what happens if you want longer
- a contract or booking confirmation, with the deposit and cancellation terms
- public liability insurance and PAT-tested equipment, which many venues ask for
- a way to share your must-plays and do-not-plays before the day
- a plan for equipment failure or illness
Setting your budget
Pick the band that feels comfortable in the matching form: under £400, £400 to £700, £700 to £1,000, £1,000 to £2,000, or £2,000 and over. We only match you with a DJ whose prices fit, so you don’t waste time on quotes you’d never accept.
How matching works
- 1 · Tell us about your event
The occasion, your music, the feel you want and what matters most: lighting, sound, the look of the setup, a DJ who is confident on the microphone.
- 2 · We pick one DJ
We read your answers and choose the local DJ who fits best. Your enquiry goes to that DJ only, never a list.
- 3 · They get in touch
Your DJ contacts you directly with availability and a quote, usually within 24 hours. You deal with them, and you decide whether to book.

Questions people ask
How much does it cost to hire a DJ in Birmingham?
For weddings, published UK guides put a professional DJ at roughly £500 to £2,000 or more. For parties, published UK figures run from around £150 to £500 or more per event. Where your quote lands depends on the hours, the day of the week, the setup and any extras.
How much should a DJ charge for 4 hours?
Most DJs price by the event rather than by the hour, with a set number of hours included. A four-hour evening party usually sits in the party ranges above; a four-hour wedding evening with lighting is usually priced as a wedding.
Why do wedding DJs cost more than party DJs?
Weddings usually mean longer days, earlier arrival, more planning with the couple and venue, announcements, and often ceremony or drinks music on a second setup. There is also no second chance if anything goes wrong.
Is it cheaper to book a DJ on a weekday?
Often, yes. Saturdays in the summer and December evenings are the busiest dates for most DJs, so weekday and off-season dates can cost less.
