The right DJ for your party

A good party DJ is less about the equipment and more about reading the room. The same set won’t work for a 21st and a 60th, or for an office party and a family christening. Some crowds want to dance from the first song; others need an hour of chat and food before anyone stands up. That is why we ask about your guests, your music and the feel you want before we match you.

We are a free matching service, not a DJ company. When you send us your details, we pass your enquiry to one hand-picked independent DJ from our Birmingham pool. You won’t be added to a list or passed around. The DJ contacts you directly, sends their own quote, and you book and pay them directly if you’re happy.

Party DJ hire Birmingham: every kind of celebration

Each kind of party has its own rhythm, so we’ve written a separate page for the most common ones.

  • Milestone birthdays. Our birthday party DJ page covers 30ths, 40ths, 50ths, 60ths and later birthdays, where the guest list often spans three generations.
  • 18ths and 21sts. A younger crowd, newer music and some practical questions for parents. See 18th and 21st birthday DJs.
  • Anniversaries and vow renewals. Ruby, golden and every year in between, with music from the decade you met. Read about anniversary and vow renewal DJs.
  • Christmas parties and work events. Office dos, awards nights and staff summer parties. Our Christmas and corporate DJ page explains what changes when your guests are colleagues.
  • School proms. Clean edits, student requests and a few questions schools usually ask. See school prom DJs.
  • Christenings and family celebrations. Usually daytime or early evening, with children around and a gentler volume.

Planning a wedding reception rather than a party? Our wedding DJ page covers first dances, evening receptions and wedding venues.

Mobile DJ or mobile disco?

Most party DJs in Birmingham work as a mobile DJ: they bring the speakers, the decks, the lighting and the cables to wherever your party is. Many people still call this a mobile disco, and the two terms mean much the same thing. It works in a hotel function room, a community hall, a sports club, a marquee in the garden or a large living room.

If you are booking a hall or a smaller space and want to know what the DJ will bring and what the room needs, our mobile disco guide goes through power, space and lighting. For the practical side of any venue, from access to sound limiters, see what a DJ needs from your venue.

What we ask, and why

The matching form takes about two minutes. Each question helps us pick the one DJ in our pool who suits your party, rather than the first one who is free.

  • The occasion, date, venue and number of guests. A 40-guest pub function room and a 200-guest hotel suite need different setups.
  • Your music. Genres and decades, must-plays and anything to avoid. Tell us if your crowd is mixed, so we look for a DJ who is comfortable moving between eras.
  • The vibe. Elegant background music, relaxed, lively, or a full-on party.
  • What matters most. Lighting, a big sound system, the look of the setup, or confident announcements for speeches, a surprise or the cake.
  • Extras. Uplighting, a photo booth, karaoke or a live musician alongside the DJ.
  • Your budget. We only match you with a DJ whose prices fit, so you don’t waste time on quotes you would never accept.

What a party DJ costs in Birmingham

The DJs in our Birmingham pool start from £395. Your exact quote comes directly from the DJ and depends on the length of the night, the day of the week, the time of year and the setup you want. A Saturday in December will usually cost more than a Thursday in March. Our DJ hire prices page explains what changes the price and how to compare quotes fairly.

Across Birmingham and nearby

We match parties across Birmingham and the surrounding towns. If your party is south-east of the city, see our page on DJ hire in Solihull. If it’s to the north, see DJ hire in Sutton Coldfield. For anywhere else nearby, tell us the venue or town in the form and we’ll check we have a DJ who covers it.

Before you enquire

A few things are worth having ready, even if they’re only rough:

  • the start and finish time, and whether the venue has a curfew or a sound limiter
  • roughly how many guests, and their age range
  • whether there will be food, speeches or a break in the music
  • whether the room is upstairs, and how the DJ will get their equipment in

None of this has to be final. Your matched DJ will go through the details with you before you book.

How we match you

You tell us about the party. We read every enquiry, choose the one DJ in our Birmingham pool who fits your music, your guests and your budget, and pass your details to them only. They get in touch, answer your questions and send a quote. Using the service is free, and there is no obligation to book.

How matching works

  1. 1 · Tell us about your event

The occasion, your music, the feel you want and what matters most: lighting, sound, the look of the setup, a DJ who is confident on the microphone.

  2. 2 · We pick one DJ

We read your answers and choose the local DJ who fits best. Your enquiry goes to that DJ only, never a list.

  3. 3 · They get in touch

Your DJ contacts you directly with availability and a quote, usually within 24 hours. You deal with them, and you decide whether to book.

Questions people ask

How much is a DJ for a party?

Published UK figures put party DJs at around £150 to £500 or more per event. The hours, the day of the week, the setup and any extras all make a difference. See our price guide.

What is the difference between a mobile DJ and a mobile disco?

In practice very little. Both mean a DJ who brings their own sound system and lights to your venue. Our mobile disco page explains what to expect.

Can the DJ bring lighting?

Most can. The form asks how important lighting, sound and the look of the setup are, so we match you with a DJ whose setup suits your room.

Do you cover small house parties?

Tell us about it. Some DJs have compact setups suited to smaller rooms, as long as there is enough space and safe power.

How far ahead should I book a party DJ?

As early as you can for Friday and Saturday nights, and especially for December. Weeknight and Sunday parties usually have more choice, even at shorter notice.
