Christmas and corporate DJ Birmingham
Christmas party and corporate DJ Birmingham
Office Christmas parties, awards nights, product launches and staff summer parties. Tell us about the event and the crowd, and we'll match you with one Birmingham DJ who suits it.
A DJ who suits a work crowd
Work events are different from private parties. The crowd is mixed in age and taste, and some guests won’t dance until later. There may be speeches or awards to fit around. A good corporate DJ:
- keeps the volume right while people eat and talk, then builds the party
- plays music everyone recognises, avoiding anything that might offend
- works to a running order with your event organiser or the venue
- arrives, sets up and packs down quietly and professionally
Christmas parties in Birmingham
December is peak season for work parties in Birmingham, and Friday and Saturday nights tend to go first. If you’re organising the office Christmas party, tell us your date as early as you can, how many people are coming and whether you’d like festive classics mixed in with party music.
A few things that help a Christmas party run smoothly:
- Pick the date early. Weeknights in early December, or a January “new year party”, often have more choice of DJ and venue.
- Decide how festive. Some teams want Christmas songs all night; others want a handful after dinner and then a normal party.
- Plan around dinner. Background music during the meal, then a clear moment when the dance floor opens.
- Agree a finish time. Tell the DJ when the bar closes and when the room must be clear, so the last song lands in the right place.
If you’re joining a shared Christmas party night at a hotel, the venue will usually provide its own entertainment. Our matching service is for events where you’re booking the DJ yourself.
Awards nights and presentations
An awards night needs more than music. Someone has to bring people to their seats, introduce the host, play walk-up music for each winner and keep the evening moving between categories. Some DJs are confident on the microphone and happy to make those announcements; others would rather leave the speaking to your host and focus on the music and cues.
Tell us in the form if announcements matter and how many awards there are. Before the night, share a running order with your DJ that shows:
- when guests arrive and when dinner is served
- each award, the winner’s walk-up track and who presents it
- any videos or slides, and whether the DJ needs to play their audio
- when the formal part ends and the party starts
Conference centres and hotel venues
Many Birmingham work events take place in hotel function suites and conference venues. These usually have their own way of working with outside suppliers. Before you book a DJ, it is worth asking the venue:
- whether outside DJs are permitted, and what paperwork they need, such as public liability insurance and PAT test certificates
- what time the DJ can get into the room to set up, and where they can unload
- whether there is a sound limiter or a volume policy
- whether the room’s own AV team will handle the microphones and screens, or the DJ
Pass the answers to your DJ. Our guide to what a DJ needs from your venue has a fuller checklist.
Summer parties and team events
Not every work party is in December. Staff summer parties, company anniversaries, launches and family fun days all suit a DJ, often outdoors or in a marquee. For an event with children or families attending, a mobile disco setup with party games may suit better than a club-style set.
Budgets and quotes
Work events often have a fixed budget, so pick the band that fits in the form and we’ll only match you with a DJ whose prices sit inside it. For the factors that change a quote, see our DJ hire prices page, or go back to the party DJ hire hub for other occasions.
How we match you
Send us the date, the venue, how many colleagues are coming and whether there are awards or speeches. We pass the brief to the one Birmingham DJ we think suits your event best. They contact you directly and quote you themselves.

How matching works
- 1 · Tell us about your event
The occasion, your music, the feel you want and what matters most: lighting, sound, the look of the setup, a DJ who is confident on the microphone.
- 2 · We pick one DJ
We read your answers and choose the local DJ who fits best. Your enquiry goes to that DJ only, never a list.
- 3 · They get in touch
Your DJ contacts you directly with availability and a quote, usually within 24 hours. You deal with them, and you decide whether to book.
Questions people ask
When should we book a Christmas party DJ?
December Friday and Saturday nights are among the busiest dates of the year, so the earlier the better. Weeknight parties often have more choice.
Can the DJ make announcements for an awards night?
Some DJs are very comfortable presenting and making announcements; others prefer to stick to the music. Mark announcements as important in the form and we'll match you accordingly.
Will the DJ have insurance?
Most venues ask for public liability insurance and PAT-tested equipment. Ask your DJ for both when they send their quote.
Can the DJ provide a microphone for speeches?
Most DJs bring a microphone as standard. If you have several speakers or a presentation, check whether they can supply a second microphone and connect to a laptop for walk-up music.
Who pays the DJ, us or the venue?
You book and pay the DJ directly. If the venue is organising the evening for you, check with them first that an outside DJ is allowed and what they need from them.
