Questions people ask

How much does it cost to hire a DJ in Birmingham?

The DJs in our Birmingham matching pool start from £395. Published UK guides put a professional wedding DJ at roughly £500 to £2,000 or more, while party DJs usually cost less. See our price guide for what changes the price.

Is this service free?

Yes. It costs you nothing. You only pay the DJ you choose to book.

How many DJs will contact me?

One. We pass your enquiry to the single local DJ we think fits best. If they can't help, we ask you before suggesting anyone else.

How quickly will I hear from a DJ?

Usually within 24 hours. If you haven't heard by then, email us and we'll chase it.

Do I have to book the DJ you match me with?

No. There is no obligation. If the DJ isn't right for you, tell us and we can try another, with your permission.

How do I share the songs I want?

Add must-plays and do-not-plays to the matching form. Your DJ will usually ask for a fuller list closer to the date. Our playlist and first dance guide has tips.

How long does a DJ need to set up?

It varies with the setup and the venue. Many DJs allow around an hour, more for larger lighting setups. Your DJ will agree timings with you and the venue. See what a DJ needs from your venue.

Does the DJ need insurance?

Many venues require public liability insurance and PAT-tested equipment. We check this before a DJ joins our matching pool, but ask your DJ to confirm it in their quote.

Can the DJ play our ceremony or drinks reception?

Many wedding DJs can, with a separate, smaller setup. Tick ceremony and drinks music in the form, and read about ceremony and drinks reception music.

Do you cover Asian and Indian weddings?

Yes. We match you with a DJ who specialises in Asian weddings, from the mehndi and sangeet to the reception, including dhol players.

Can I hire a mobile disco for a party at home or in a hall?

Yes. A mobile disco brings its own sound and lighting. Tell us about the room and the power available.

What areas do you cover?

Birmingham and nearby, including Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth, West Bromwich and Halesowen. Tell us where your event is and we'll let you know.

Are you a DJ company?

No. DJ Hire Birmingham is a matching service. The DJs are independent businesses, and you book and pay them directly.
